Turn Signal Switch Fix when Cold
I fixed my cold weather blinker switch issue today. I looked at these posts.

There were no pictures in the posts. So, here are pictures with simple instructions. It is really no different than the wiper switch fix.
Remove the top steering cover by removing the two front screws on the bottom cover. The third one on mine was strip. It does not need to be removed. The top cover will snap off. Turn the wheel to the left and use a small or long screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the switch in place.
Once you get the switch out. Remove the four screws holding the switch together. Two on the back are longer so do not mix them up.
Pry off the first electrical connection cover with a small flat blade.
Pry the back inside a small amount to loosen the next cover up a bit.
Pry the second cover off from the stick side.
Be careful or you will crack it like I did.
Here is what you need to clean. This one from the junkyard was not too bad.
Here is what I used to clean it up and re-grease it. The grease is just dialectic.
I did not spray the brake cleaner directly on the switch. I use the blue shop towel to apply the brake cleaner, then the wd40, and then a good wipe down with a dry blue shop towel. Finally, apply some grease.
Reassemble. Life is good.

Great stuff! The Disco is becoming more and more like my old E30s. There were a slew of switches that could be fixed like this.
Kind of a side bar question: is this a similar deal for the windshield wiper switch? Mine is really tough to get going and if I can do a similar fix, that would great.

Great write up. Definitely needs to be a sticky or added to the maintenance sticky.
I recently replaced mine. Would have fixed the original but due to lack of time and 100% understanding I just bought new through eBay.
With that being said, if anyone wants my old turn signal assembly, pay for USPS shipping and it's yours. It worked but started running slow. Use mine as the guinea pig.
