Question Unlocking Doors with Dead Battery

Recently the 12V battery on my Discovery II died, and with all the doors locked, the only way I was able to get in was by jumping the positive starter lead and then using the fob to unlock the doors. The physical key blade won't unlock the door with a dead battery for some reason (however, it does work when the battery is charged). Is there any way to fix this?!

The only reason I can think why the physical key wouldn't unlock the door with the battery dead would be if the rod was not connected to the actuator, but then it would feel like there was nothing connected

Is it double locking? That’s the only thing I could think of.
