Update and possibly looking for another D2
Thanks for the encouragement guys. The hole in the chassis really dampened my enthusiasm.... sometimes I hate living in New England. Between the weather and all the dam salt the idiots spread on the ground it just kills all vehicles! Its not even a joke. Top it off, people with nice expensive vehicles do not have the brains to keep them under coated. My Disco was shipped directly to Vermont from England and Im the 3rd owner. Neither 2 previous owners ever under coated it! Cant fix stupid and now we have to pay for it.
I was thinking alot today at work about the chassis (If i do keep the truck) maybe if im lucky i can find a donor rust free D2 and take the body off and start from the buttom up on the build. Start with getting it cleaned up than have it sand blasted/galvanized and possibly zinc coated. Then swap my 16" G4 wheels to it and buy new rugged tires for it. Leave it in a storage space until I have the money for a Great Basin engine than instal it directly on the replacement chassis along with all new body and engine mounts. Than when Im ready I could swap over my body to the donor chassis which is already built and ready to go, swap over the suspension and all the new parts then sell the remains for profit. Not sure though, time will tell. Im not rich thats all I know. Tired of not being able to do the stuff i really want to do with the truck. Id really like to start thinking about the mods and paint job. sigh.
so how much did you guys pay for a cannibal v8 or great basin engine shipped anyways? I assume their engines sell for around 6-7k, not counting installation......

I also remember the tech saying that if you incorrectly shift the high/low range shifter than that will likely trigger transmission fault codes. For example if you mean to engage low range but you dont quit shift it all the way up, than the yellow gearbox icon will appear in the cluster and constantly blink with audio until the shifter is correctly engaged. But this will also trigger a fault code. As it is my Dff lock is stuck again so I have been playing with it and occasionally I do not properly engage the shifter all the way the first try so this could very well explain all the transmission codes. But I will wait a week or so and see if the code comes back without me touching the low range. After this test i will attempt to engage the low range correctly and see if the codes appear. If not than I think the problem is solved. Ill keep my fingers crossed. Strange though cause I never would have thought that there would be sensors so sensitive to something like that.
