@markdeg How did you wire up the steering controls? I attempted to just tie the silver/black "input" to the headunit to key 1 and that didnt do it. Tried with key 2, also didnt do it
For anyone else who might be installing one of these in the future, the wiring for the steering controls functions as the radio reading resistance through the steering wheel controls to determine input. So the radio sends +12v out on Key 1 and Key 2. Key 1 gets wired up to either lead of the steering wheel controls that are in the factory gray radio connector. Silver/red or black/red. You then ground the other wire for the steering controls.
So key 1 connected to the silver/red and then the black/red is connected to ground

I just ordered this type of radio for my Rover and I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do to be able to play movies while the car is in motion? Having it work so my girlfriend can watch a movie while we travel would be nice. Will youers allow videos to play while in motion?
Just checking in to see how your Joying unit is working. I am thinking about an 8inch screen and saw you have the 10 inch without any issues?
Did you install an additional launcher or is everything stock?
Can you see album art while playing music?
Any additional images would be plus if your time permits.
Hello,
Now I'm thinking about installing one Joying Unit, but I'm still not sure about 7" or 10" (price it's almost the same). I saw your installation, and I think it's amazing and I would like to do it, but before I would like to see more pictures. Do you have more pictures? like how long does it oversize the Disco Radio hole, how long does it covers the air holes?, how is it in the back screen?, is there a lot of space between the screen and dash board?. Is the Screen fixing system (these 4 clips) still working and supporting the screen weight and vibrations?.
Thank you very much!!
I decided to just jump in a do it.
I went with a 8inch screen as not to completely cover the air vents.
Also did some minor filing to get the radio to fit in the radio hole with cables attached. It has been working fine more my needs. I use it for mainly for listening to music I have loaded via usb.
The music app I use is called n7player, it features large album art that I can quickly access while still my eyes on the road. I dont need any social media/YouTube stuff while driving.
Other apps installed are: TorquePro GEMS Reader by our beloved RobertF that allows you to reset the trucks adaptive values. Sygic maps
I'm going to end up dumping my Joying unit and going with something else. The sound quality is terrible, and there's a high pitched whine when the engine is running that I can't get rid of (it's also there when the engine is off, but much quieter). I can't use it for any kind of audio at all.
I installed CoPilot for navigation, Head Unit Reloaded to run Android Auto, and Pi Music Player. They all seemed to work well enough, but I just can't live with the thing.
I dont have that annoying high pitch frequency, that is most likely the result of a bad or dirty ground picking up on all the tunes from the alternator. Change the ground and it should be better.
