Default Values?

I am considering selling our 2004 SE7. She is in excellent condition inside and out. I've done all of the preventive maintenance and repairs as well as new tires. I've also added a safari rack/lights and ladder. She has 93k miles. I purchased her from an independent dealer in Portland for $12k but have been checking cars.com retail prices. Decent, low mileage trucks are listed from $14 to $19k! Having been in the car business for years I understand that "askig price" and "selling price" are two very different things but does anyone see these prices as obtainable for low mileage, clean examples? Do we think our trucks are appreciating in value?

I definitely don't see that happening. Most parts of the country 4-5k is considered on the absolute high end even for great condition low mileage trucks.

That said, Portland has a little higher cost of living if I'm correct. A little more wealthy populace? You might get 8-9k if she's in d*mn fine condition.

Sorry. I should clarify that I found it in Portland and trucked it to Northern Va.

Of the 93 vehicles on cars.com right now 13 are listed above $11k. The highest being a staggering $18900! When we purchased ours a litttle over a year ago $13-14k was the high water mark.

At the rate Discovery's are disappearing off the road because the cost to fix is more than the vehicle is worth, I'd say we should be at about the bottom of the market soon. Hopefully they will start going up in value within the next 5 years. Kind of like the Range Rove Classics are.

I bought my 2004, with low mileage on it (about 80,000 miles), good overall condition, a few short years ago, just a few miles south of Portland, OR. for $8000. A friend, a professional mechanic who has worked on Rovers for years, had same year vehicle, with even less original miles on it, in even better condition @ 60,000 miles for $7000., though he wanted more if he didn't know you. Right now, a local lot has one, same year, about 120,000 miles on it, at $7000. Considering the work that I have done on mine, all with love, mine is in best condition, by far, than it has ever been, since my buying it.

In nova... Ask 6.5 and expect 5.5 if she's mint. Absolute max. You'll honestly probably get around 5.

I'd rather light her on fire that sell for that. The truck has run flawlessly but it's a fourth vehicle for us and is kept outside. I'm very festidious about the condition of our cars so I spend a lot time cleaning (and keeping the bloody wheel arch trim looking decent). If I can make a few bucks and cut down my cleaning time it's worth considering. Otherwise I'll just keep her.

Mine is definitely in better shape now than when I brought it. A 60k mile truck for $7k sounds like a deal!
