Valve cover gaskets are different than head gaskets. When doing the head gaskets you should also have the heads rebuilt. Mechanic will charge 1500-2500?for the job. You can do it yourself for approx 5-700 depending on parts cost and machining costs.

if someone is telling you they have an 04 w/44k miles that needs head gasket, I would be very wary of that vehicle, it shouldnt need head gasket for another 40-50k miles.
