Seriously? They just let you go across it? Do you use their new LRs? Do they have a professional drive?

I just ran it by my wife, and we'd love to, man!

Is it this one? 1030 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508

We'll be in my 99 (black) Cherokee... I'm a dark-haired guy... 5'10", 150lbs, 22 years old. I'll be wearing a white USCCA t-shirt with a sleeved shirt under it if it's cold.

Sweet Spike, I'm looking forward to it! If you can't make it, just post here before 7:30am or so, or give me a jingle on my cell anytime before then (989-287-2019).

10:30am?

I'm pumped!

Yup, thats the one.
I'll be the guy in the Magnum P.I. Hawaiian shirt.
10:30 Sat morning at the LR dealer.
No they dont let you drive over it, insurance liabitiy and all. A salesman will drive you over it.
I would LOVE for them to drive my truck over it with me in it and post it on youtube but they cant. Damn insurance companies anyway.
Those guys are all very nice out there, I would buy from them if I was in the market.

Is that where you take yours for major service too?

I seriously plan on doing ALL my own maintenance, but it's always good to know of a place that won't screw you.

Will you be in your white Disco? Hey, maybe you can show me some things to look out for and whatnot. I have a PRETTY good idea of the Disco that I'm going to end up with... how can I say this without giving it away... let's just say 'I'll probably be buying "just4fun"s Disco', lol.

It's basically a clone of the one in GR, except it doesn't have running boards or a brushguard.

No, I have bought parts there though. I do all my own maintence and most of my own repairs. What I cannot do I have done at the Muffler Man here in Grandville.
He lets me buy my own parts and then he just charges me labor. I always drop the truck off the night before and thenjust pick it up after work, that way he can take his time with it and he gives me a lower labor rate because there is never anyrush.
I will bring him and his guys a 18" pepperoni pizza sometimes when they are working on it.

Man, that right there is a good hookup to have. My dad, who has taken an oath before God to never buy a new set of tires, and never buy tires with with anything better than 50% tread-life, has the same kind of hookup with the guys at the local Discount Tire. They will mount whatever crap he takes in (the last set was merely "scorched in a garage fire") for some venison salami and jerky.

Maybe I need to start building a relationship with the Muffler Man crew here in Ionia... I used to live a little further north of here, and a good friend of mine had the hookup with "Charlie Butler", the son of the owner of the Alma muffler man. I was de facto'd into the hookup, and it was awesome...

Well, we're gunna go get some Mexican food... I'll see you in the morning, Phil!

There's a little course at the Fremont dealer here in the Bay Area. The NCLR Club held a Wilderness First-Aid Training there and a couple of the guys drove their trucks through the course with a dealer rep in the passenger seat.

They let them do that? Cool. I doubt I'll get so lucky.

I think it helped that they are a sponsor of the club. The BOD's hold there meetings there too and some of the rigs were really built up so they could tell there wasn't going to be much of an issue.

Went over the off road course in a2007 LR3, salesman said that the grade there is 33%, LR's can handle 43%.
That is HUGE!!
SO I have been over the course in every generation of the Discovery, a Range Rover and a Freelander. It never gets old.
Now I just need to go over it in a RRC and a Defender.

The tech specs on Land Rovers UK site (http://www.landrover.co.uk) give the vehicle capabilities in stock form for the Defender at least, the Disco1 and 2 are very similar apart from the approach and departure angles thanks to those plastic bumpers and a low front valance.

Defender: http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/veh...ons.htm?page=2

Discovery 3, strangely, doesn't have the capabilities listed as far as I can see.

hope that helps someone.
