Default Towing Issue & Rock & Roll

Hi, being new, I hope I'm not expecting too much. I have a 94 Discovery /w a 3.9 V8 & auto trans. I recently purchased a boat and have a couple of questions and concerns that maybe some of you can help me with. After buying the boat, I read in the owner's manual that my Discovery is limited to 1650 lbs towing weight. Oops, the boat weighs 1850 & the trailer 500. At 2350, I find that the problem occasionally becomes "the tail wagging the dog." While I know this is not cool, I'm limited in my funds. It's either beef up my Discovery (some how) or try and sell it and settle for some big hulk made by Ford or Chevy. Is there anything I can do to stabalize my Discovery without spending a wad of cash?

BTW, I have Mich tires all the way around in good condition and keep up with the maintenance. The Discovery has 137K on it, but runs well. It does have this wild steering vibration if I hit a bump just right at 70+ mph. I'm thinking (hoping) steering damper. The tie-rod ends are new (the Brits call them ball joints). Of course all of the minor problems are rearing their[:@] ugly (read $$) little heads, but I don't mind so much since I've wanted a Discovery ever since I first saw one.

I appreciate any help before I have to put it on Ebay and look for some "it'll have to do" monster!

Thanks in advance,
Jeff
