Keep the front drive shaft greased.
No need to go faster than 70 MPH ever in a DISCOVERY.
The gas consumption will go to 10MPG.

Try to drive 55 MPH.
You'll get 15 MPG.

I do every day I drive it and even with the roof rack get 12. Now I take about a mile to get to that speed and drive like a total grandma otherwise, but it's very comfy at 75-80 mph as that is the speed of traffic here.
