Default Water Fall Sound

I recently had to drain and refill all of the coolant. Now I get the water fall sound only when floored and at 4k plus RPM?

I probably would have never noticed it but I pulled out in front of some traffic and realized I wasn't in my X5 Had to floor the old dog and wind out some gears. I don't hear the sound any other time. I've bleed the system again to ensure there is no air in it. What else could it be?

I always pop my hood and check everyday for about a week after replacing coolant. That's after spending what seems like forever trying to bleed the lines. Sometimes it takes a little driving to work out some air bubbles it seems.

If is is air. At WOT, it could also be exhaust gas (head gaskets). There is a chemical test that will change color for that. As for bleeding, many release and elevate the coolant bottle as part of the bleed process. Others have fabbed a new "T" with a drain tube, see pix. There are always more bubbles after the first 2 or 3.

That is shade-tree as hell. Genius, but shade-tree.

The head gaskets were done about 10k miles ago, and I've drained and refilled the coolant three times in the last few weeks. This is the first time I've heard the waterfall sound. I'm sure it's just air. Given the frequency in which I seem to be taking off the timing cover lately, I should take the time to put the T drain tube in!

Several months ago I drained the system and had the waterfall sound no matter how much bleeding I did.

Recently I had to refill it again, and this time while bleeding I was tapping on the T and wiggling it around. No waterfall now.
