Oh and the only difference between effort required for the leak down test vs. compression test is setting TDC and dragging the hose across the room. So really not much difference.
If you put cylinder at TDC & apply pressurized air from spark plug hole even if your valves are in perfect condition some air will escape from piston rings, no engine is %100 air tight even if brand new,,, Rings are not a complete circle & they don't touch the cylinder wall as piston moves up/down, they glide on oil film, if they make direct contact with walls they will wear out in no time,, That's why oil gets dirty between oil changes, from blow by, because combustion gases work their way into oil sump, that's why there is breather tubes on every engines valve cover, to circulate the air/pressure build up inside engine,
