Default fuel pump

Thanks for the suggestion - hammer and drift pin did the trick. The pump is out. To my surprise, there was quite a bit of 7 yr old gas still in the tank. So it looks like I need a new pump. My local parts guy said he could get one for about $650. Wow, they cost that much?!? Any suggestions of good parts suppliers for Land Rovers? BTW, I also did a compression check:
cyl. psi
1 200
2 240
3 200
4 175
5 215
6 220
7 210
8 185
To me it looks like a bit of valve ware, hopefully not a bad gasket. What do you think?

Walt,
I had some trouble with your links. The google drive was not found. Maybe link is incomplete?
The parts diagrams come up in Russian only. I went ahead and bought a parts manual and I also have the Land Rover Repair Manual VDR 100090.

D2 Fuel pumps range in price from $80.00 to $400.00. You could also get a used one from Will Tillery.

I got a Bosch from Rock Auto. It was about CAD$220 delivered to my place in British Columbia. It’s been in about 2 years now and no problems so far.

Default pump price

yes, I've gotten stuff from Rock Auto in the past. I see Parts Geek also has a Bosch pump with gaskets for $200.

Slow progress getting the fuel pump replaced. Got the new pump. So it is spring loaded into the tank? I got the pump in but can't hold it down and turn the retaining ring to hold it in down at the same time. I can't seem to press down on the ring and turn it at the same time. It seems to take a lot of pressure to hold the pump down in the tank. Is that normal? Is there some special installation tool to compress and turn the retaining ring? I almost had it back together before the snow hit...

I don’t recall there needing to be any pressure to get a new pump in. Are you sure you have it seated properly in there?

This was OEM vs Rock Auto when I did one a while back:

I think the problem is the way I'm putting the rubber seal in. I put it on the pump but saw a video that says you have to seat it in the hole first. I'll try that as soon as the blizzard is over :-)
