What’s an acceptable draw
i have a parasitic draw and I’m tracking it down slowly I removed one of the abs fuses and it dropped by half but what is the normal draw for the car when it’s off?
25 milliamps would probably be a good number for our older Dll's. But, if you have added accessories like GPS, theft montioring system or other wireless systems...this number can increase substantially. Not to unusual to see 70/80 milliamps on newer vehicles with all of the bells and whisltes, but this still takes its toll on the battery over time and if not driven often...dead or low battery will result.
On our rovers, if you are seeing anything below 50 milliamps, and you drive it regularly, my feelings are you wouldn't see any issues. But, let it sit for a few weeks...and you may have starting issues (especially during the winter).
EDIT...Also going to mention...as the battery ages...it is less likely to handle the prasasitic draw...and will start failing more often.
We have vehicles at work that draw 4.65 amps with key off, but they have 3 - 1100 CCA batteries to deal with it.
