Hi All,
we recently purchased a 2004 LR7. It was running fine. This (relay maybe) was mounted to a plastic bracket that broke. I fabricated a new one and when I mounted it I noticed that it had a loose like rattle on the inside so I must assume it is broken because I tried to start it this AM. Truck turns over fine (new battery) but no spark and the odd thing is that the emergency flashers won’t turn off, coincidence. Anyone know what this is? I’m dead in the water until I can find out what this is as I live 100+ miles from the nearest Land Rover repair shop or dealer. Here’s a picture of the thingey. Help! Than

Just checking that you're in the right forum- as there's no such thing (to my knowledge) as a 2004 LR7. However, I'm pretty certain that's the inertia switch. When activated (usually after an accident) it shuts off the fuel pump to reduce the risk of fire, unlocks the truck, and activates the flashers. The top part of the switch is a button that you should be able to press and reset it. I've heard of them activating over large potholes and intense off roading situations and it makes sense that if it broke free of it's mount it would activate. If that doesn't fix it they are pretty cheap so just swap if out.
Thanks greis, I stand corrected, (wife’s truck) Disco II SE7. Is there a reset procedure for that? I found it hanging by the connector with the rubber cover (I assume the reset button) on the bottom, is it supposed to be mounted with rubber button cover towards the top? Thanks
It certainly shouldn't hang there. A big bump could trigger it and stop the engine anytime. It should be securely mounted, wires down. You can test it by giving it a little whack and then pressing down on the rubber part. You'll feel a click which is the switch reengaging where it's supposed to be.
