What did you do with your DII today?
He said I would need to fill the compressor with oil before installing it. Any of you guys have an idea of what type of oil/how much/ and where to put it?
I should have had a shop do the whole thing. This is a pain in the *** but I'm trying to get it done.
Okay I just found this chart. Pretty much all land rovers take PAG 46. The 2001 Discovery takes 6.50 ounces. Im guessing and 04 wouldn't be any different?

Should I just drain whats left from the old compressor and put it in the new one? My old unit started making terrible noises so I'm guessing it didn't have much left in it. I can buy the oil in screw top from autozone. Do i pour into the high pressure or low pressure port on the compressor?

systems ready. got inspection sticker......about time. it went out in march.
my ac say ext temp 107. gauge says water temp 188. put an 8" electric fan (off road and heat soak aid)on while I bsed with mechanic that does my inspections. Reza. stuck fan on ac condenser. it fit perfectly between my fan and dryer. it runs off the same switch as my water pump.
could be my imagination, but I'd swear my ac is colder with it on.
possible?

Eeerrrr, I posted this originally under the wrong section .............. going senile
I replaced ONE of my engine mountings on a D2 TD5 today, it took 6 hours excluding unscheduled interruptions and stoppages (from neighbours and friends dropping in and wanting favours). Believe me if someone says it's easy and straightforward they are JOSHING you. Admittedly, I did it without any assistance and still have the drivers side to do followed by the 2 autobox mountings. The second one, the drivers side, surely can't be as difficult as the first. I'm informed the autobox mountings are a real 'push over', hahaha, but someone wrote that about the engine mounts so I'm very sceptical now.
Oh, I've got some cuts (plus blood), scars and gouges to my head, arm and hand to prove how easy it all is ................ I'm sure cars are designed masochists to be as difficult as possible and inflict endless pain to the DIY mechanics.

Got my DII running after a month long head gasket project. Ended up replacing the timing chain, timing gears, oil pump gearset, cam (Crower 53229), lifters, springs, Aac dryer and water pump. I also replaced the power steering pump gasket.
Here is more info on my project: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...oncerns-68311/

got a spare bonnet, cut holes in it, put some louvers over the holes, along with a blackout decal. installed a 3rd battery....one of those yellow top ones.added another 20 unit fuse box and greased my shaft, then I greased my shafts and anything else with a zerk on the truck.
d1 and d2 hoods the same? my blackout said d1.

Replaced my noisy alternator with a good used one and the annoyingly loud whine is now gone. Will rebuild that one later. Installed my brand new TJM tent, big thanks to Matt at Kakadu Camping in Delta BC. Can't wait to use it this coming long weekend with the kids!!
