Sold the 32's today, put the 255/18's back on. Started looking more closely at the diesel swap.

What engine(s) are you considering?

So today i got a metal rear bumper customized by none other than my friend dusty1 himself.

these are cellphone pics, ill try to get better ones in the morning. Changed the look of the rover and it even feels like it drives better with the added weight in the back.

also installed a safari front diff guard

6.9 IDI (International Harvester, tread lightly in your picking on this, I love these engines, and handpicked THIS one 4 years ago for a different project)

1: takes a full rebuild
2: haven't found one
3: I have sitting in the driveway, bombed around in it Sunday, but it's pretty big, was actually suggested I cut down the frame of the donor, and do a body swap, haven't ruled that out...
4: I just found on Craigs today for $800, needs a Head gasket.

I know for a surety the D60/D70 , the NP435 wide ratio, and 1356 are transferring over....

On 41's... my build looks like this, Grimm Jeeper has no Disco gearing for the autotragic, so lets "pretend" I have a 5 speed DiscoII

I'll add images in an Edit

so core gearing....

t-case and tires sizes, notice the 29" on the right, adn the 41" on the left, Landy will end up lower thana 41", but... IF IT WERE THE CENTURION.... so Crawl Ratio and Speed will actually be lower in the Landy...

and highway speeds... by dropping down to a 37, my highway r's will be closer to the Landy r's on the right...

now, if you take and tweak the rpm's part of it, to show redline out 1st into next gear, and watch the speeds, it is the perfect set up, pulling out of each gear in the NP, at 3200 or so, puts me into the next gear at 1800 or so, and the same mph, it's a pretty sweet set up....

Of my Centurion, I am confident, I am changing out the IDI aspect, due to size (and then I talk myself out of it, I love this engine), if it were smaller, and quieter, hell its 180/350 or so as it sits, plenty for the landy.... but also confident I am keeping the tons and trans/t-case. chromoly's and a locker for the D60 are right at a grand (ashcrofts no locker are $750) and IIRC, the D70 in the rear isn't much different in price.

whenever I start talking abou this, I get on the defensive, as it bucks the convention of Krawler gearing..... uploaded more screen shots.. tomorrow, lol

Yesterday I put more trail miles on my DII. Ran about 15 miles of Forest Service trails and marked, but not numbered, trails. Several sections of exposed bedrock, several sections of loose scree, and 7 standing water crossings due to recent rain... 3 of them were more than hub deep. One steep, sandy, rutted, off-camber climb... The more I drive her off road, the more I love her, and the more I want to maximize her offroad capabilities.
