your hi lift wouldn't get the tires off the ground.........solution is ratchet strap axle to frame. I have welded a hook on mine for a little chain that I carry
I'll remember that trick for next time. I could have gone higher, but I had to place the jack under the hitch (only solid metal on the back end with the stock bumper) and I was really uncomfortable lifting the WHOLE back end.

Is it possible to rebuild/refurbish the stock jack, or should I just scrap it and get a new one?

Put some blue devil in it with oil. It will swell the seals and should start working just fine. I keep a 2 ton floor jack in the back of mine just for flats.
Also don't over torque your lug nuts, they will bust the studs and the tire will go past you on the highway. Seen it happen the other day.

Quality tire shops will use a torque wrench on them. Joe Bloe just turns the air ratchet up to the highest setting and spins it on like a Nascar pit crew.

Just got home from having Pep Boys mount and balance my used 285/55/18s purchased Sunday. It can be tough finding a place to mount used tires nowadays! Pep Boys will get my business soon when it's time to purchase 255/55/19s for our LR4.

I busted tires for a year and a half. The shop where I worked used torque sticks with our air guns that would flex at something like 40 foot pounds of torque. We'd slam the nuts on quick with the gun, without over tightening them, thanks to the torque stick. Then we'd go back and use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts to vehicle specs.

Default Safari Guard HiLift Mount

Installed my Safari Guard HiLift Mount.

Also, the HiLift "lift mate" wheel attachment is pretty handy for vehicles that don't have jacking points.
