I used mequiers heavyduty headlight refinish. It is diffrerent than a lot as you do the sanding by hand and only do the final polish with a drill. They give you a 3000 & 1000 grit by hand, i started with some 800 i had. After the final polish they give you a UV protectent to apply. Real time i might have 3 hours in them . Thx

Thanks, I'll have to give it a go. Her's are in bad shape so I doubt they will come out as good as yours.

Separate the lens from the housing. And do both inside and out

Not sure how the ML320 lights come apart, so I'll probably skip that. Knowing me I'll bust them to bits.

I've got the 3M kit, although I'm not sure what grits the wetsanding discs are. My lights aren't too bad right now, but I'd like to restore them to that nice crystal condition. I'd probably want to finish on a bench buffing wheel and then hit them with arcylic UV clear coat instead of a protectant, otherwise you'll need to keep reapplying it and eventually your lights will start to fog up again regardless.

I have used the 3M kit. One work of advice, go slow with the sanding discs. If you go to fast they will build up with plastic.

There's a thread on autogeek that is over 100 pages on using Helmsman Spar Urethane mixed 1:1 with Mineral Spirit for UV protection. Its a wipe on application. Nice thing about wipeon is its a heavier (longer lasting & better UV protection) and no need to worry about overspray.

i ended up fixing the rear LP light by replacing it and charged the battery in the rover.

the advantage I found with the mequiers heavyduty headlight refinish over the 3M is you do the sanding by hand. I could see several places on the 03/04 lights if I were trying to power sand there would have been flat spots when "I" got done.

Replace that worn out gasket between the handle box assembly and the body if you haven't already. Mine wore out and cracked, causing the LP lights to fill up with water.
