Not today, but Saturday (two days ago) I pulled the serp belt to test for play in the water pump shaft. At 152,000+ I'm alert to the water pump being a vulnerable component. Living on borrowed time. Happily there wasn't more than the tiniest bit of play discernable. And the fan clutch tested fine too.

Water pump? Fan clutch? Alternator? Starter? What goes next? CKPS, radiator and XYZ (twice) have all been replaced. The original CKPS lasted 11+ years and 112,000 miles. If I still have the truck I may replace it proactively in another 4-5 years or so. And I carry a spare (used) XYZ. Just in case.

I'd like to think that if I keep a careful eye on the water pump and test it regularly it won't leave me stranded. Alternator? Maybe. But at $300+ I'm not too eager to replace it proactively. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for a spare alternator at a local boneyard.

Using plastidip bc it is temporary.
although, I am half inclined to do the whole thing in matte black.

Not sure I can about the aesthetics enough for that.

Just got the front driveshaft done at Mr.Driveshaft in Wall NJ. In at 8:10am, out at 8:45am and the price was reasonable. No more vibrations from either the driveshaft or the warped brakes and driving down 195 with the sunroofs open is awesome again.

Got under it to find out the original owner upgraded the front drive shaft u-joints. The 2nd owner bought it on 2007 and told me he hadn't done anything to the drive shaft so I assumed they were still the original ujoints.

Anyone want to buy some GKN ujoints and a moog centering bearing??

Just had my D1 wiper arms delivered. Plan on installing on Saturday when the weather's a bit nicer. I'll finally be able to see in the rain!

Still working on my amigos. I have to start tearing apart the interior to find the ground wire which I think is giving me all my HDC brake light codes.

I had the same experience with mine. Ordered the UJoints, rented the press, got under it to start the work and saw a grease zerk on the UJoints and propshaft.

My D2 is clearly mad at me for neglecting it while I've built the RRC. Today it developed a habit for blowing fuse #30 (20A) anytime i try to adjust the side mirrors. Cruise control and the rear washer operation don't blow a fuse so i must have a weird short behind the dash or something.
