New 180 thermostat and tb bypass. Temps show 208 in traffic now. Would get to 215 before. May still have some air in it

 

Probably do. My traffic/idle temps have dropped to below 200 F after bleeding several times without even going to the 180 thermostat.

Found easiest, cleanest and least wasteful way to top off/bleed is by removing bleed screw and slowly adding fluid to bleed fitting using a small funnel. I will do this cold, prior to first start of the day with reservoir and cap in place. It's a good idea to repeat this process several time/days because it may take awhile to get the most air out of cooling system.

Next up when funds avail: old man emu lift + 5th (spare) BFG.

It's been a while since I posted here... back in November I went to Panamint Valley Days. I was one of two Land Rovers at the event, and the only one that actually went out on the trails. My Disco II performed very well, and everyone was impressed. I put a pretty good dent in my passenger door, lost my only key, and had to be trailered home.
Early December, added a roof rack, and I participated in the local Christmas parade with my 4wd club.
I recently found and fixed 2 coolant leaks. Both of the small hoses that connect to the overflow bottle were dripping coolant at or near the overflow.
In the last month, I have put together 2 trail runs. One of them was just me, the club president, and one other guy. We had no issues, but we did come across a group of inexperienced four wheelers. One of them nearly drove his Hummer H2 off the side of the hill, and another guy got 2 flat tires. It took 4 vehicles, 2 winches, 4 straps, and every shackle and ****** block available to get the Hummer back on the trail.
The second trail run had a total of 18 vehicles. That run had a lot of steep, long climbs and took us from 1446 feet to over 3500 feet in elevation. No issues on the trail. I was the only Rover on both runs.
Last week was our monthly club meeting. I was finally voted in as a member of the High Desert Four Wheelers.

 

My Turkish redneck repair failed yesterday (it lasted for about 6 months, survived a crazy texas summer but failed in winter). But would I buy a new radiator for $150? Noup. So I drilled the little hole to enlarge it, I will put a hard plastic pipe into it and seal around it. Pics coming soon hahahah

 

Is that burlap or fiberglass? If not burlap it's just a regular red-neck repair. Looking forward to see pics of your tightfisted repair.

it was regular fiberglass sheet+ just enough epoxy hahahahha
so I found this thingy at Lowes, sanded it, i made the hole bigger, put about an inch of it into the hole, and sealed it with 'quick steel'. Waited an hour, filled up the system and drove it for few minutes...so far so good. 3$ repair

 

By way of introduction, I took my new-to-me 2002 Discovery II to a local independent Rover mechanic to have it prepared for a round trip from Seattle, Washington to Fairbanks, Alaska.

Not new to Land Rover: In another wifetime, I had a 2001 Discovery II and a (SHUDDER) 1996 Long Wheelbase County Range Rover, aka, the Great White Moneypit. Was a member of local Land Rover clubs in Houston and Dallas, TX, when I lived there.

So today, I took ownership of this 2002 DII with 122K on it and am having it prepped for the roadtrip to and from Fairbanks, relocating to Seattle. THAT is the only reason I'm driving the Alcan in January/February. When it's time to move, you move.

Looking forward to finding more tips on how to keep the beastie running, and if anyone is interested, I'll post trip-pics along the way.
