What did you do with your DII today?
Sure isn't bad at all. My buddy and I were looking at them (online browsing is as far as it went) and had been wondering.
They're not the easiest things to pull off the roof, but they're not bad. And it's not like they're going to be too heavy for the rack or anything. I'm sure they'll work well too. For something that looks and works like that with only $40 of investment, I've got no complaints.
Today i played with my trucks CDL. the previous owner made a lever that turns the CDL on/off that is actuated under the truck. works pretty cool but when i locked it to see if it worked. It did lock just fine and then when it came to unlocking it, i couldn't unlock it. it took about a good 30 mins of researching how to unlock her and a few trial runs to get her to unlock. it finially worked after i drove it in reverse for like 30 feet!! haha Gotta love Disco 2s.....
Finally made things right with the rear prop-shaft. Replaced old u-joint with new Moog precision u joint, replaced missing brake drum securing screw, replaced all 4 3/8" nylock nuts, and correctly installed the new rotoflex coupling kit. Added fresh grease to everything and re-installed. Afew weeks ago I did replaced the front propshaft with a new Propshaft Llc shaft and also replaced all the hardware. I think the drivetrain is set now and I feel more confident.
Next week Im bringing my Disco to DAP Enterprise (Rover Enthusiast shop) to have the brake system properly bleed. Starting with the SLABS, then the master cylinder and finally the wheels.

well, like other discovery II owners, i came out the other day and found my disco squatting. started the disco and it inflated to normal height, and it promptly sat down again. it would stay inflated as long as i didn't drive faster than 30 miles an hour. kind of hard to do while driving on I 95. all the while, my wife is singing "all my friends own a low rider". funny for the first mile or so. ordered a set of bags from alcott, got my jack stands and bottle jacks and got to it. settled disco on the pair of jackstands, leaving the axle to hang, tires just touching ground. removed tires, and there they were in all their glory. removed the clips, unhooked the airline and twisted the bags off. installation was a reverse of removal. points to remember, when inserting the airlines, remember to add a little more into the nipple and yank on line to lock it in place otherwise you will leak really slow. ask me how i know. 3 hours later, it holds air, rides great, and the compressor isn't running constantly. and, having the adoration of all the neighborhood kids who were amazed that such a big vehicle can sit on a pair of "fake *****". i had read on another forum of a member who had injected fix a flat into the bags with great success. now to the brakes and figuring out a dual exhaust with crossover.

I'm sure they'll come in handy.
