Installed a new u-joint on the back of the front shaft, cleaned the battery terminals, replaced the high mount brake lightbulb, a front courtesy light bulb, Added a license plate frame on the back (odd spacing on the back door), checked the brake pads, and gave the thing a bath. Ordering parts to clean up some things the previous owner didn't fix. Includes a passenger side mirror, headlight washer nozzle, fuel door latch, 1 lug nut cover, wiper blades (front and rear) and a turnbuckle hold down for the battery/jack cover. Whew!

Today I paid 184$ for a new muffler, because my driveshaft took it out.. Oh and then I find out it needs new tires (sidewall cracks) this is after spending 400$ on driveshaft last couple weeks.

My 2001 Discovery II has been sitting safely in the parking lot.
Not driving it.
And, that means - it is not breaking.
I do take it to get coffee sometimes..

I will replace the clock light soon - due to the nice writeup.

I'll want to put 90-120W into the transfer case soon as mine is a leaker.

I pulled the y-pipe back off my 99 and had the split in the cat welded up.

That sucks man, my good friend builds custom rover shafts for only $295 thats seems like a $105 savings on that and then $189 savings on a muffler. You are lucky that is all that was damaged.

What did I do with my Discovery II today?

-changed gear oil in front & rear difs
-greased the driveshafts
-changed oil and oil filter
-replaced air filter
-replaced radiator
-replaced the fan(fan clutch was replaced a few months ago when I did the water pump)
-replaced the thermostat
-replaced coolant cap
-flushed out the dexcool and am using the green antifreeze now
-replaced 1 brake light bulb
-inspected hoses and belt

I did all this work myself at my fiancee's familys shop... I find its so much easier when I can get the truck 6 ft off the ground and see and access everything.

Within 30 minutes of getting home, the transmission filter kit was delivered so that will wait until the next time I decide to get some shop time in.

I put one of your friend's propeller shafts on my new Disco today - only took it around the block so far after install, but quality stuff - and all grease-able. Although the carrier for the rear double u-joint doesn't have that convenient cutout for a ratchet extension like the factory one...but as long as the bolts don't get too rusty that I can't use a box wrench on it, all should be fine.

I also did new front rotors (EBC), brake pads (Akebono), and a new steering damper (TF), but that was yesterday, so technically I didn't do those things today, but close enough.

Yesterday I started going down the list of major services on my new, to me, 99 DII. Did an oil change, replaced spark plugs, replaced both pre cat oxygen sensors (had codes for both) and took care of some wiring that was loose and too close to the exhaust. More to come next weekend.

I replaced the spark plugs and wires. Bosch Platinum +4s have been discontinued, so I used Bosch Iridium OE Finewires and 8mm Kilborne wires.
