Neasure your exhaust manifold ports, mine were constricting the exhaust by 2-4mm’s. If you have a die grinder, and bits port match it. Didn’t take me an afternoon, and since my HG job/port and polish the engine is way happier.

Doing the heads and intake is more time consuming, and a bit more dicey due to the cost of those parts, but with the manifolds, which are widely available under $50, you don’t have much to lose.

With the new Cam I am willing to bet the engine will benefit from not having that constriction there. I have walker cats and the stock silencer.

Honestly, I am pretty happy with the power on the highway now. Passing is much much easier. I still dream of Stage 3 heads or an LS swap, but I am really happy with this engine now.

I would, but I am tired of always working on this thing as it is.
Time to is scarce. I bolted the driver side exhaust manifold on this afternoon, before running out of time...again.
Try to get the other side, 02s plugged in, and full exhaust on tomorrow...at least that's the plan.

In the past week I've been transferring various parts from my old Disco II to my new one. Snorkel, headlight and taillight guards, rear ladder, widow vent visors, and 18" wheels and tires. I also changed all the fluids, installed a 180 degree thermostat, and replaced the throttle body heater plate which had been leaking.

Here she is as of this morning:
