Yeah, looks like valve seat came out. Not common, but it happens. A severely overheated engine can sometimes do this, heads expand so much...seat drops out. Not always the case, but it happens.
Gray 03, Changed trans fluid/filter and dropped front shaft to lube cardan joint. Was getting a slight noise on acceleration, thought maybe the cardan joint was dry/going bad (l'd greased u-joints...but not cardan yet). But, after inspection it was fine (lubed it anyway naturally). However, when l started it up to continue filling the transmission...l heard a rattle from the passenger side cat. Sweet, the baffle must be loose inside and most likely the cause of noise l'm hearing on acceleration. Pisser, because it's a good cat otherwise (checked with IR gun/scan tool and it's doing a fine job). Almost wish it would have been the shaft making the noise...have a good one on the old 01 that will be coming off anyway.
Me and this gray rover aren't off to the best of starts...lol.

Brian.
She's looking quite beast Brian. Keep at it!
I can't speak for that one except personally - I know someone. Metalline (locally) quoted me $160 materials & labor for the skid-plating and the tubing work on top. I'll report back and post a pic after I get her back this weekend.
Had a oil leak from the front cover so decided to tackle that yesterday. Oil pump gears, timing chain, clean the pickup tube screen. Water pump, T-stat, hoses, gaskets, etc... Now will see where else it's leaking from.

Damn there's a lot of garbage in that screen. When I did mine at 310000 km I had virtually nothing on the pick up screen, and I was shocked at how clean my internals were. That front cover job can suck it though, I wish you the best of luck

Yeah, I was really surprised too. Everything went well. Only thing I'm not thrilled about is my coolant temp now. It had a 180 tstat in before. The one I had already is a stock one. Now it's 195-200 all the time, which is normal. I just liked being at sub 187 all the time. Degreased and person washed it all this morning. Now to see if there's any other oil leak remaining.
Well it appears cylinder 7’s misfire goes deeper. After a few days of not being able to work on the car I got around to getting the heads off and discovered that somehow this piston came in contact with the valve/head.
this is a broken, or otherwise comprised valve spring. Ask me how I know! 😂
I was going to do my brakes today but i'm currently buried under a mountain of snot rags and its 40 degrees / windy outside. Bleh. I might go out and check to see if the PO left the rotor screws out from the last time the brakes were done Might have to buy one of those impact screwdriver thingys
