What did you do with your DII today?
#6623
I tried the D1 arms and recently switched back to my original arms, Never found a good set of blades for the D1 arms, tried Bosch, Michelin and another brand, they all missed spots on the windshield. New set of D2 blades for the D2 arms and I couldn't be happier with the results. By far better than any of the 21" blades I tried... I think it is cheaper in the long run to just pay for the D2 blades than spending endless money on store bought blades that never quite work right.

You have to slightly bend the D1 arms & I’ve had excellent results with Bosch Icon, or any aerodynamic new style wiper blade. The OEM D2 blades are about as good as a 4.00 set of el cheapo’s!
People tend to use 18’s on a D2 with the D1 wiper arm & I guarantee 21’s work & you should use them. Also I’ve heard the aftermarket D1 arms seem to be cheaper vs OEM D1 arms, so go figure. I’ve only used original D1 wiper arms.

Well ok....its not just what I did today but I thought I would catch you up. Pulled the block out, Dropped the pan, replaced rear main seal, tore down right bank head, lapped the valves, replaced the valve seals, check for squareness and dressed the mating surfaces. Tomorrow I do the other head. Ill get some pics before I start. BTW for those that would ask the question, YES at 120k do the valve seals! man they were crispy!

I was using the aftermarket D1 arms, I suspect the spring wasn't strong enough to push the blade against the windshield firmly enough.
I found my D2 arms worked better after I lubed them with silicon grease at both the riveted joint at the base and at the other end where the blade pivots. Did the same lube on a Honda Civic that had "bad wipers" and it fixed them too.
So in reality I switched to D1 arms to fix my D2 arms when all they really needed was the lube.
