My original headliner needed to be replaced. The fabric was sagging. The aftermarket ceiling mounted video monitor has not being working for a few years. I needed to remove the dead weight. However, it will also mean a hole in the middle of the headliner when I remove the video monitor.
Lucky me, I found a whole new headliner from the Pick A Part a few years ago for $35 a few years ago. Just did not have the time to do the project.
Well, after 10 hours of grunt work yesterday, the replacement headliner and the new ham radio is mounted. The front domelight area is a great location to mount the radio.
Ran my post cooling system fix the disco is very happy except for a p0441, look at the purge valve had it installed sideways. I know better than to work too long
Made the stupid mistake of going out late in the evening, on a lane we'd not done before & with only a hand winch and some rope. We came unstuck around 11pm, in some thick clay mud. Called it quits on self-recovery around 1am when it became apparent we'd be needing a spade and better rope, if not a second vehicle.
Fortunately a neighbour is a night-owl also and came to our rescue after walking a couple of hours into town, now home at 3.50am & plan is to go out as soon as we wake up, armed with more equipment & possibly a friend with a heavily modded coiler/TDi Series IIA. Lots of lessons learned, the hard way as always for us lol. At least hard learned lessons stick better, not quite as sticky as that damn mud though!

Sideways? They only have directional flow. You mean backwards? Just curious.

Tough luck, those are the kind of situations that drive people to installing an electric winch and I am sure some will recommend that. Grew up down in the swamps of Louisiana and we had a POS Jeep Wagoneer with open diffs and skinny co-ops that I swear I had to winch all 7 miles to the hunting camp. One trick we learned and you may want to look at is the use of wheel blocks or straps, or even chains (my dad loved chains). They don't require modded bumpers and can get you out of sticky situations. Lots of youtube videos on them.
Yes indeed, a winch was already on the shopping list (along with some rubber that's not A/T's with 1/4" of tread left lol). Thankfully we're out and home now, it wasn't easy though! In the cold light of day it was evident we were extremely bogged down, axles/side steps & crossmembers touching the earth & cross axled in the ruts too. My partner's cousin came along in his sweet 88" lifted coiler with 200TDi, Insa Turbo diggers and Salisbury axles, succeeded in pulling us 10 feet back before he snapped a front halfshaft
Fortunately a Facebook contact happened to be nearby & came in his DII, proclaimed it "in deep" and left to fetch a tractor.
15 minutes later he was back with a decently large New Holland and a chain. Even that struggled to back down the lane far enough to hook up, but once attached it was fairly straightforward and we just let him pull the Disco pretty much to the beginning of the lane. Lots of lessons learned though, and the kids have enjoyed the adventure even if we are all sore and tired out now lol.
Well, I had the AC serviced in Chloe a few weeks ago. First time the AC has worked since I’ve owned her. So naturally, Ive been using the AC… a lot. Water pooled up on the floorboard due to the condensation drip tubes being clogged at the nipples. So today I pulled them and cleaned all the gunk out. Now they both drip as they should.
