Finally got around to fully cleaning the beast since I brought it back from Uwharrie. Spent a bunch of time pressure washing the undercarriage and knocking off all the NC clay.
Not great picture but trucks at a good height now. This is how they should have come from the factory imo.
Primary buyer...socker mom, mall maiden, kiddo-dropper to and from school, status symbol. And if one of the forementioned ever dropped their cell phone in route...it would be roll-over city. It wasn't until they started aging and falling into the hands of off roaders...that height, clearance and off road capabilities truly came into play...and folks that could handle adverse driving conditions started sitting behind the wheel.
Hey guys, a number of things on my end. Bought a 2003 disco II, to my wife’s horror. The last rover I owned was an 89 classic, in which I poured my heart when I was 18 and sold when kids and marriage took precedence. 13 years later and I picked up this girl. I’ve been working on temperature control and general maintenance. So far:
head gasket has been replaced, no leaks found
installed a TD5 thermo
coolant flush
oil change to heavier 10w-40 with zeros
installed ultragauge - found she runs 178-189 and purrs
installed Bluetooth capable radio - someone did a hack job on the wiring previously with electrical tape
Cleaned, rubbed, generally showed love and respect.
in the future: track down leaks (surprise), brakes, battery, various minor issues and then try to rig her for the dirt. Falling in love with rover all over again.
Replaced the front and rear sway bar links, they were toast. Easy project with a noticeable improvement.
Less fun was removing the headliner and finding a mouse nest
