That must have been a bit of a tough ride, Defender not exactly luxury vehicle.

I used my earphones the whole drive so the wind noise wasn't too bad. This truck is missing some door seals LMAO. Overall the truck road pretty comfy considering the age and it was mostly unloaded with HD rear springs. The brake servo gave up the ghost about 300km into the journey and then the WP rubbed the upper coolant hose through as i got home. Overall, the truck was great and felt great. Still has some small things to sort out as they do but considering this truck spent its entire life in Holland, it did pretty dang well after sitting for a few months to take me through the desert and over several passes to get back to SF. Only major service it's had since arriving here is a timing belt, oil change, and air/fuel filters. Planning to do the brake fluid, diffs, tcase, and trans soon and then some basic mods so I can start shaking it down.

wood to support the abs module so that your hands can focus on meaningful work
Good to know, I have a feeling I may be doing the same thing shortly. I got the Three Amigos on my way home last night.

Agreed. Those brake lines can be flexed more than one might expect.

The SVS electical fault is a likely cause, but be sure to get the ABS codes read before diving into Option B.

just picked up a 1.4 t-case to swap into the white disco. Simply too heavy and 33s it needs a little help with the gearing, more power is the true solution but a t-case is easier and cheaper than re-gearing diffs. I already have an air locker in the rear and don't plan on a front anytime soon so really don't need to crack into the diffs if avoidable.

Saturday installed new plugs, wires and relocated the coils to the top of the intake. Installed 180 deg inline thermostat and did an oil change. Went to swap the air filter and found a k&n so I serviced and replaced.

Pulled a truck out at the beach yesterday and got it smogged.

Today I found my cd changed and tested it. Working great!!!!

Ordered brass fill plugs for the diffs and will do a fluid change on diffs and t case when they get here.

Has been about 2000 miles since head gasket and valve stem seals replaced. My #4 misfire returned and oil back on there. Think it's safe to say I need to put a ring on it. That would make sense in a way. This truck had a lot of oil leaks (oil pan, valve covers, oil filter housing etc).

It sucks, the baja rack is finally on after 8 months waiting and wanted to take it on a trip memorial day.

Please report back on how that goes!

The factory gearing is stupid with the Auto.

I have a D1 3.9 and spend most of my time with it locked in 2 or 3.

it should be essentially the same as a 4.11 diff gearing only it affects the high range not the rear. This truck I’m not worried about going lower low range just looking for a slight drivability upgrade. My classic on 35s and 4.11 gears drives a million times better highway wise and rpm than my white disco on 33s and stock gearing.
