Default What is a fair price for these two 2004 Discos?

I am new to Rovers and am looking at these two 2004 Discos:

2004 Discovery HSE7 - asking $11,999
67500 miles
Fully loaded, navigation system, looks & runs great,non-smoker, performance tires,18 inch rims,2 sun roofs,7 seats,6 discs CD changer, tow package

2004 Discovery SE - $8500
89000
4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Air Bags, Air Conditioning, Anti-lock Brakes, Anti-theft System, Cruise Control, Fog Lights, Full Size Spare Tire, Heated Mirrors, Intermittent Wipers, Power Mirrors, Power Seats, Power Steering, Power Sun/Moonroof, Premium Wheels, Traction/Stability Control, Trailer Hitch, leather heated seats, driver passenger dual heat air control, 6 disc cd changer under passenger seat, purchased out of Virginia with 71000 miles, selling at 89,000 miles, three oil changes since purchased., great condition!

Both trucks are in NY State.

Are either of these fair prices? If now, what should I offer?

Thanks guys!

Do you want seven seats or five? Thats the main difference in my book. Although, I am partial to the SE (I like to load space storage bins). The price of the HSE7 seems high, but then again you pay for the seven seat models.

Mechanically, is the coolant level stable? And have either of them had their head gaskets replaced? Oil changes are great, but there are other things that could tilt one in favor of the other (like a rebuilt driveshaft).

I'm sure more people will chime in, but you're off to a good start by beginning your purchase process in the forum.

By the way, to answer your question (depending on specific condition and market) I would think a fair price for a clean and well maintained '04 SE with 90k to be around $7,000-$9,000. Add $1,000-$2,000 for an HSE. My recommendation would be to get the best priced truck you can as most will need similar repairs anyway.

my guess is the SE is closest to having the Head Gaskets fail, have you had a long test drive with both of these trucks? the HSE7 might be worth it to you if the head gaskets were already done. otherwise its too much money. I'm down in Westchester county and i bought a 99 two years ago for $3000, and just bought an 01 for $1000 that needed HG's

I just talked to a girl from where I live who paid 19,000 for an 04 with 200k miles!!! I was Absolutely shocked!!! I'm guessing that she didn't know what the heck she was doing. I have an 03 with 137,000 miles but with a newer engine and I got it for 5k. I didn't have the heart to tell her, she had already let them repo. it, couldn't afford it anymore. I told her that if she ever buys another one to look around and test drive several b4 making a desision. I don't know how the people who run that dealership sleep at night!!!

Default Thanks....

Thanks guys...

I am not too sure what I am going to do. Ideally I would like the truck to have lower miles. I may just stick with my current truck, and then look at a newer LR3 later this year.

I bought an 04 with 48k miles just 18 months ago.

Be patient you'll find a low mileage truck.

Dealership pricing is over the top on these '04 D2s Like has been said, be patient and know the head gasket $$ is in your future. I have my '01 sitting now waiting on funds as I did not put money aside as some have advised a little each month when life was good with my cooling system.
