What to pull from the U-pull
This is a thread to collect suggestions of "what to pull" if you happen to find a Discovery II (99-03) at a junkyard. Here are my recommendations from years of repairs, based on things that have failed or are likely to fail:
Easy:
1. the front propeller shaft, to keep as a spare
2. the SAI blower, with mounts if they are in good shape
3. SLS height sensors (if air-suspension equipped). Be sure to grab the connectors (just clip the wires)
4. Interior trim parts, fasteners
5. Rigid coolant overflow pipe that runs from the coolant reservoir to the radiator
6. headlight / tail lamp assemblies
7. wheels (for easy winter tire swap)
More difficult
8. SLS pump and air distribution lines
9. ABS unit
10. the cruise control servo unit, including pump and air bladder
11. Window regulator
Hard
12. Transfer case from a 99-01 D2 that contains the center diff lock parts
13. ACE pump, valves (if ACE-equipped)
Extra credit
14. If a D1 is available in the yard, pull wiper arms and install on D2 for cheaper replacement blades
15. Tow lighting kit installed inside passenger-side rear tail light cavity (if equipped)
Any other things that should be included?

Good list. Def add brake switch under DS dash panel. Engine oil cooler and connection pipes if your driving an 03-04mY where it has been factory deleted. Plastic windshield cowling if you come across a unit still in 1 piece. Somebody is always needing one of these. Then you have your LT230 diff-lock shifter kit.

Front and rear bumpers, blower motor, 04 roof rails, jump seats with trim and carpet. I'd skip out on the brake light switch. New part is only like $11, not worth the space it takes up IMO. 04 transfer case also has diff lock, 04 CDL linkage is worth a pretty penny, both diffs (they're interchangeable, you just have to change the input shaft). If there are D1s you can also pull their CDL linkage as long as you also get the mounting plate.

Brake switch is the old design and it breaks internally. I recommend getting the newer style brake light switch at auto zone for 12.95 (genuine LR Part is in the Duralast Box).
I look for the Rear Fog/Front Fog Light Switches, LR Bottle Jack, D1 Wiper Arms (just grabbed a perfect set the other day for 7.00), Air Box Lid, misc relays, Wiper Jug cap, D2 Cup Holders, A Pillar Trim, Grill, other misc bits.
Normally the D2 bumpers are completely trashed F/R, but you can find great deals on D1 F/R bumpers.

Good idea to have a spare dash cluster and it is super easy to remove. Get the plastic cover grommets that always fall out of the arm rests, interior switches and window lift buttons, clock and seat heater switches. Get the front and rear fog lights, too. I always grab the owner's manual kit for resale on eBay for a quick profit.

I bought an 03 D2 for 500.00 so I have my very own Pick N Pull right now. Not stripping it to bad, but it certainly was worth the $$$. After my 98 D1 was hit I bought a 99 D2, and it had an ebrake assembly that was totally trashed (cable looked like someone drove with it fully on until it exploded). Got a little dirty, but swapped it out for free and now I have a perfectly good working ebrake on the 99. I just put the drive shaft back on the 03 without the ebrake assembly since the original off the 99 was toast anyways.
