Default What was THAT sound!?

Ok, so my wife goes out to the car this morning and presses the "unlock" button on the key. Here's what she describes hearing next:

"It was like a fast knocking sound. Almost like one of those wheels like
the wheel of fortune wheel going around. And only happened when I
pushed the unlock button."

Anybody have any idea what that was? She decided to drive our other car rather than further investigate... in fear of blowing up our home.

Help!

(the car is 2000 Series II)

I'm going to try this evening. We'll see.

Any idea of what would cause such a sound?

I don't exactly know what it is, but whenever you have a dead battery and you try to use power from it something makes this same exact noise. Someone more skilled in mechanics could answer this more technically.

You may have a lock actuator that is failing, that will cause the lock to lock and unlock very fast making that sound you have described.

Thanks for all of your input. I went home to start the car and it wouldn't even turn over... I bought a new battery, swapped it out and everything is back to working order!
