Once when we first got our D2, my mom drove it to work. When she wanted to drive home it wouldn't start. My dad went over to help her, as did some co-workers. After many minutes under the hood no one could figure it out.

I walked over, sat in the drivers seat, put it in park, and started it up.

^hahah!!! This happened to me before, I let my mom drive it when her car was in the shop. I had to drop my car off at home, get a ride to the car in the rain, had a friend meet me there just in case, got in it and started it immediately...

Looks like this thread derailed. I actually like the premise but it doesn't look like it's going to work with this bunch of clowns. I definitely agree that there are way too many threads that likely lead to a fix but the final outcome is never reported. It would be nice if people finished up by letting everyone that offered help know what the fix was. It probably isn't a bad idea for people to post when they have an issue and resolve it themselves just so that the info is on here in case someone actually does a search.

By the way, my Discovery smelled like a wet dog one day so I made him get out.

Temps too high: installed 180deg thermostat, replaced water pump, viscous clutch (chevy minivan style,) coolant tank cap and serpentine belt. Also flushed cooling system twice. Maybe three times.
Excessive drivetrain noise: replaced rear propshaft u-joint, changed gear oil in both differentials & transfer case.
Soft brakes: flushed brake fluid, slight improvement but still softer than most vehicles I've driven. (Appears to be a common Disco problem.)
Poor visibility: scraped the PO's ghetto tint off the front windows.
