Thanks guys, that is very helpful. Now I know what price range is right for the Disco with the bad engine.

I will post a thread to the boards once I decide which vehicle to go with. I definitely would prefer to purchase the Disco with the bad engine and build it up with a top hatted block - as opposed to the other Disco that I am looking at....

Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

I recently had to decide to buy a used engine 4.6L for my 2003 DII SE7 or rebuild. There is a salvage yarn that specializes in Land/Range Rovers in Sunland, CA (Los Angeles area). You can do a google search to find them. Big operation. Ask for Rick. My mechanic turned me on to them. A good used motor with low milage in the 70,000/80,000 range was about $3200 plus. They have tires/wheels, just about everything. I went with a rebuild since I had insurance on the engine and I wanted all new parts. Cost me $6000 total less insurance of $3000, so I got a new engine for $3000.

first off that's way to much to pay for a 04 needing and engine, if you deside to go with an engine this is the way to go: IMHO

Thx Drowssap.

I have had the chance to read up since my initial post and I see that GPR gets high marks.

When you do the math on the engine replacement cost, I think it puts the value that I would be willing to pay for the vehicle that is for sale at about $2,500 max.

Appreciate all the advice - there is a great community of folks here !!

that sounds about right $2500 + $6000 would be the about the price of a really good 04. the new engine is a bonus.
who had it for sale Hanover?
