Default Wifey wrecked 2000 Disco just bought 2003 Disco

I've been reading alot on here about the problems with the 03 Discos But I got lucky and found a se7 that doesn't fall into the Oil pump vin numbers problem. It is White with tan leather interior with black carpet and floor mats has dual sun roofs cd changer rear step and rear seats and rear air controls it also came with a entertainment system in the head rests that all have wireless headphones and games and such for the kids. It has 62,000 on it got it for $ 5,000 even.

My problem is that when I come to a stop it makes a funny ticking on or near the motor not sure if it is in the motor or just something loose somewhere vibrating then after stopping it usually stops then after proceeding it cant be heard at all but the other day it got alittle louder then quit again I cant figure what it is but it runs great and hasnt caused any problems yet just a really annoying tick somewhere. I called the dealer here locally the service man told me I could bring it in but he would sell it cause 03's were known for problems any thoughts.

I can't help with your question, but that price is incredible! If it's in good shape, you got a steal!

I think what is bothering me the most is the price I just cant see how it was so cheap if something isnt really wrong with it I think thats why every little sound it makes gets me wandering I just hope the nagging tick and click isnt anything major like I said before it doesnt do it all the time.

First crawl under the truck and count the number of grease fittings on the front drive shaft, if only 1 then get it rebuilt/replaced before next week cause it is most likely failing and could cost you a tranny.

im with mike check the drive shaft, for the fender flares with a little heat they adhesive comes loose and you can take them off, sand them and paint them... i did mine in flat black. well cuz i love flat black and it cost 98 cents a can at wal mart. i used 6 cans, then readhered them with some epoxy.

sooner fan,

Good to see a fellow KCer on the boards. Mine has the same problem and I am in the process of getting ready for a Lifter change out. But first I am going to do the Trani fluid flush in the engine then see what happens. You can find that info here on the board. I am also going to do the seafoam treatment again, that helped last time. From everything that I have read on here that seems to be my problem. I also agree with Disco Mike you need to switch out that drive shaft!!! I did the Tom Woods shaft 3 years ago and have tried to keep up on the greasing myself as I do the oil as well. If you ever need to put heads together let me know I live in OP so if you are close we could check them out! The only thing that I see being a problem is that I am a HUSKERS FAN!!! GO BIG RED!! ;-)
