X2 on that. Side steps just get your slacks dirty.
But a brush guard is handy. It will protect your front end from potential damaged caused by unattended shopping carts while you shop at the mall....for new slacks.

I've transported two brush guards in my 95 Disco I just fine. (on seperate occasions). One that was OEM and one that was aftermarket. I did have to move the passenger seat all the way forward though.
