I just picked up a new Warn M8000 off eBay for $620 shipped. Includes remote and roller fairlead.

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but I've read that it's long been a staple in Warn's product line. So, I'm not overly concerned about reliability issues.

First, for a Disco, I would recommend at least a 9000# winch. I would also recommend you call RTE and see what their winch plate is designed to handle.

yeah, I'd say 9k bare minium with as heavy as discos are. Remember you're not just pulling the vehicle but all the mud stuck to it, and gravity is workin against you if you're in a hole. Also, try to use a ****** block to double the leverage when possible.

If youuse a ****** block, then an 8000lb winch, andin particular a Warnwill be plenty capable imo
