Default Window problems, tried absolutely everything! any advice?

So, I have tried seemingly everything to fix my Passenger side window on my 2001 DiscoII. It stopped working one day, I could hear the motor whirring but the window was stuck in the down position. Since then I have removed the panel and tested numerous things. I first removed the motor from the mechanism and tested it. When depressing the window button the motor gears spun so I would think that it was ok? the mechanism also seemed to be perfect and not broken in any way but when attached to the motor it just wouldn't work. So I purchased a new motor & mechanism. The motor is aftermarket so I had to strip the end off and attach it to the stripped end of the door cable (see pic) as per advice of another forum member. Now the problem is that with the new motor and mechanism, nothing at all happens. I can hear a click from under where the ac is located but the motor does not run at all. I first tied the cables to test them, and alternated them and then tried the butt connectors and also alternated the wires but still nothing at all. Since I know that there was power in the old motor I can be pretty certain that the problem is somehow in my wiring but I cannot possibly see what I have done wrong with attaching two wires together (please see picture) I would really appreciate anyone's input on this, I have spent hours, days and weeks working on this and would love to fix it myself. I even got some extra switches and replaced them but no difference.
Thanks in advance to anyone for help. I would dearly love to get this solved myself and not go to the dealer, I have already bought 2 motors and a mechanism so $150 in the red and still no window.
Cheers!

Default Bfs?

Clicking should be relay. Have you checked voltage with a meter to ensure you still have voltage to motor? If volts good may just be a bad from stock motor.

.......

Also you can try running 12 volts direct to the motor. I use a small hand held 12 volt drill battery with 2 blade connectors attached to wire.

I'll go ahead and get a meter and test it, although, after the window initially stopped working and I took it all apart and looked at the mechanism and motor separately, the motor was still running when plugged in. Thanks for the input!

Finally got around to getting a voltage meter and figuring out how to use it. So, it registered. 0.03 can you tell me what that might indicate and any advice where to go from here?
many thanks!

As per a you tube video, (see below) I had my Harbor Freight meter on the correct setting for a car. However, since I am a total novice, I just realized that I tested the wire, but I was not pressing the window switch which would explain the low reading? I will try again tonight and re-post my results. Thanks for your response.
