Default Windscreen wipers

Hi,
I've just bought a 93 Discovery and I've notices its got a few issues.
The main one is that the wind screen wipers don't work and seem to constantly blow fuses. This one could probably be a loose wire somewhere but I'm wondering if this is a typical fault for discos? anyone have any ideas?

Cheers.

Check your under dash fuse panel for loose wires coming out of the back of it.
I would say it is a back switch but that should not blow fuses, I say that you have a short somewhere, that will be very hard to find.
Wait a minute, is the wiper motor any good? If it is seized when you turn the wipers on the motor will get hot and draw to many amps and blow a fuse.
Pull the wiper motor out of the truck and bench test it.

Is the fuse blowing immediately when you turn the wipers on or is there a delay? A delay would indicate that the motor is overheating like Spike suggested. If the fuse blows immediately then you have a short somewhere in the system. For a short I would check the wiring at the switch first. Any place where you have physical movement is a prime candidate fr a wire to short out.

Where are you located? Here in the states the Discovery didn't show up until 94, that's why I ask. More curiosity than actual need to know to help with the problem. How many miles on the vehicle? Any ideas about the maintenance history?

I've just managed to fix it, may be tempory.
I took the wipers of and squirted a ton of WD40 down the wiper spindles. This seemed to loosen them up sufficently enough for them to start moving and not blow a fuse. so it must have been a load issue.

Cheers.
for you help anyway
