Default Winscreen wipers

Anyone come across this problem? Start the car 01 Disco2 and switch on the wipers, nothing happens, neither intermittant or slow high spped works. The wipers work on the wash cycle correctly. Swithch them on and eventually afet maybe 20-30s everything works fine and stays fine until the next time. Strange annoying and I can live with it but does anyone have an explanation? Also this may be related the service light never comes on, only when the ignition first switched on. Don't tell me the system is so good it knows I do regular oil changes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be happy your check engine light has stayed off for you, that is good. As for the wipers, I am stuck, by the way, do your rear wipers work properly?

Yes the rear wiper works fine, and once working the front work fine as well it is just the delay. Is there a rain sensor on this that could be faulty? I am at a loss but it is only a little inconvenient

Deebee, does it do it during the morning, evening, first crank? I "discovered" (probably the reason it is called the discovery, every day it is something different! Gotta love them) that my wipers were doing this the first morning the temperature was below 40 degrees, and it was the first frost.

So, I've narrowed it down to being cold and perhaps a frost, and maybe moisture is making its way in to the motor and freezing it up. That's one guess. The other guess, is there is alot of relays and commo passages that allow the wipers to work; most are in the passenger compartment. Maybe the cold is shorting one out somewhere.

I could perhaps wait for a cold morning, then pour warm water over it until it works, lol. I dunno, I need to figure out some way to warm it up to really determine that is the problem. I don't want to pay over100 dollars for a new motor just to find out that wasn't the problem.I may call the local dealer, as this is a common problem apparantly and they could tell me, they are pretty cool like that. If I find out anything I'll let you know.

Wow, I dunno. TestBook can troubleshoot the wiper system electronics, but you'll have to pay the dealer for them to use it. Note TestBook, not a code scanner. The only thing testbook will be able to tell you is that the electronics are functioning, I don't think it can identify a bad motor. My only otheridea is to get to the wiper motor, and when your truck is cold, turn on your wipers and see if it is getting power with a digi-meter or a simple current tester. If it is, your motor is having issues, if not, it is in the electronics somewhere.

The motor is getting power because if I wash the wipers start immediately, no hesitation at all which is usually how I do my initial clean
