Default wiper arms series 2

Well... I still need a cowl but, just wanted to share a concept that I wish I had seen many $$$ 's before hand. I was kind of ired by the fact that I couldn't get wiper blades from my local store without ordering... in fact, none of the stores had them and wanted to charge $30 or more and shipping to get them. I ordered a set from Lucky 8 but, they didn't seem to hit the windshield/screen right ... missing spots and causing me to drive high and low in my seat during snow and rain. Then I saw that you could swap them out for the older disco arms... which made sense... and by doing this.... you could buy normal wipers!!! holy crap!!! So I went back to Lucky 8 and ordered the disco 1 wiper arms and went to the local store and got 21 inch blades ( don't pay attention to what size blade the disco calls for... measure) and these are working great!!! The only issue is that the little caps will not go on to cover the nut to fasten them so I'm either gonna seal or paint them to keep them from getting rusty etc. Great hack to help you get what you want closer to you and you have a wide selection of blades... not just the brit parts flimsy ones. Besides... if you lose a blade... you don't have to wait 3 days for a replacement.

D1 hooked arms work well. They can take multiple blades including aero blades. I've used them for a couple of years or more since Kernow Discovery recommended them.

I use the 21” Bosch Icon blades on my ‘04 with the d1 arms and still have some issues with the driver’s side not getting full coverage.

When you replace the DII wiper arm with a DI the round cap ( DKG100120) is not used. You need to replace the nut and cap

If you bought the full "wiper arm upgrade kit" from L8 then both the nuts and DI style caps should be in the kit.
If not no worries, just call L8 and order the part numbers above for the DI style pivot nuts and caps.

OverRover, those PRC8253 caps are neat, I've done the wiper arm switch but now I'll replace the 2 caps on mine.

cool... thanks for the info and, yes I've been under a rock lol. To be honest. it didn't even occur to me to swap them out as I hadn't had to replace them yet. When I went to my local store they informed me that they were "special " lol... so I ordered the factory replacements. After I installed them I realized that they didn't clear the windshield on both sides. A little frustrated, that's when I did the research and someone suggested to swap them out for the D1 arms. I got the more expensive Trico with the all weather sealed blades and they seem to do a great job (of course no rain yet lol but, I used the washers to check).

I find the aero style blades don't work as well as the el cheapo metal frame blades. I haven't tried since putting helper springs on though
