The D1 arms take wiper blades that you can buy in any parts store.
The D2 wiper blades and those crazy plastic clips can only be purchased from specialist places.

I replaced the entire wipers new D2 arms etc because I was having issues, wipers didn’t press hard enough on the window and would miss sections. Figured replacing would fix, It didn’t. Once I put D1 - D2 conversion on they worked perfectly. I figured this was a widespread issue but seeing the replies. Maybe not.

The whole idea behind the mod isn't that the D1 arms are better at all, it's just that the replacement blades are cheaper and easier to find.

I tried D1 wiper arms and also found that I could not buy a blade that properly wiped the entire windshield. I was spending more money on cheap blades trying to find the magic ones than the actual D2 blades cost. So i gave up and went back to the trusty D2 arms and blades. Things have been working fine ever since. Sometimes being cheap just doesn't pay off.

What blades does everyone like for the D1 arms on the D2? I am trying some Bosch ICON 21" and will see if that works well.

You can get a spring that wraps the wiper arm and provides more down pressure for the D1 wiper mod, no missed spot anymore works perfectly, 15.00 CDN for a pair.

I always remove the proprietary BS from the wiper arms. I get a couple 1/4” stainless bolts and nyloc nuts, throw some standard blades on, and the bolt goes right thru the preexisting hole in the wiper arms and the wiper blade frame. Has worked perfectly on two D2s for over 5 years now.

Lucky 8 has a full set of 3 on ebay for $25, just get those. I've been running them for 2 years with no problems.
