Default Wire Harness Disconnected From Heated Windscreen

After looking through the electrical library in the RAVE manual I noticed something odd about the wire harness for the heated windscreen on my '04 Discovery. First off I noticed that there were two female plugs on either side. One plugged in and one not plugged in. The set that was plugged in appeared to be newer than the detached set. However upon inspection I found that the ends of the wires on the new set that was plugged in at the connector were free and not connected to anything. I was able to simply unplug the connector and remove the entire harness. The old set is at least mechanicanically attached to something but I put a multimeter on them and got no continuity between the poles so I dont believe it is electrically attached to anything either.

Does anybody know how these wires are attached at the windscreen itself. It looks like they could either be stab-in connectors or perhaps they should be soldered on. It appears to me that the windscreen was replaced recently before I bought the truck, and the installer didnt know how to hook up the electrical bits. Not only were the new wires not hooked up correctly, the old set was never removed either. The pictures below show the newer harness.

Would appear that perhaps you no longer have a heated wind screen. See attached. If you meter for ohms looking toward the wind screen, should see a very low reading. You won't see ohms reading the connector toward engine, but would see 12 volts when heated screen is activated by command from the BCU. Fuses 7 & 8 under hood handle that. The replacement procedure for the windscreen shows a drawing of the connector attached to windscreen on each side.

You may have to remove the plastic that covers the bottom of the windscreen and see if there are indeed any lugs to attach to. As you know, windscreens come in heated and regular versions, and PO may have selected cheap.

Thanks for the replies. The windshield is the heated model, I can see the wires running through it. I guess I'll have to pull the plenum off to have a better look.

If you are able to use push on connectors, be sure to coat with connector dielectric grease, this is a high current / high corrosion area.
