won't accept radio security code..
I've done a search and have found the same question asked with no answers. Yes, I should probably be asking this question in the audio section but it doesn't look like it gets hit very much so here's my dilemma.. I recently bought a 97 Discovery with some cheesy cd player someone put in it, I decided I wanted to go back to stock. I bought the radio (with security code cards and booklet) and 6 disc changer used. So I type in the code and by the time I get to the 4th or 5th button of the sequence it beeps at me. I try this a couple more times and nothin but beepin. Then, as instructed, I leave the key on with the radio on for an hour and try it again to see if it will respond. Nope. Just beeps at me. I mean is there something I'm missing here? If anyone has experienced this and has any input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Some radios have a very small battery in them and if it is dead you can really have problems. Try leaving the the ignition on over night to see if you can power up the battery.

no battery in the radio, on top of the radio is a small hole in the aluminum about the size of a 3/16 inch toward the center of the top chassis. Beneath the hole is a soider link keep the radio plugged in and use a pocket screw driver and short the link to the chassis while the radio is plugged in, someone has timed out to many attempts at reprogramming it this will reset it for 3 more attempts
Alright, are you guys working some conspiracy? First let's see if we can kill this guys battery by leaving the ignition on overnight. If that doesn't work, we'll tell him to start shorting stuff out with a screwdriver
I'll try them out and see what happens although I'm looking at the top of my radio. I see several what look to be vent holes on the left side. Towards the front of the radio on the right top there are a few rectangular slots. Can you just clarify a little more, I don't see much in the center. Thanks guys.

I had the same problem in my 97 Disco... two different codes from the dealer, about 10 attempts leaving the key on etc. Here's my solution...
Pioneer Stereo.... $350.00
Radio Wiring Kit.... $15.00
iPod Adapter Cable.... $20.00
Sound Quality of iPod (not going through an FM modulator)..... priceless!!
And the Pioneer deck looks pretty dang cool too! Let's just face it... those stock decks belongs on the workbench collecting dust.

P.S. That radio wiring kit sent the signal directly from the amp outputs on the deck to the factory amp... subs work and everything. It sounds awesome!

Well after plugging the radio back in, it for some reason accepted the code on the first try. Hallelujah. My next dilemma can be found in a seperate post.
