Default Won't start, diagnostic help, p0560

Yesterday my disco had a hard time starting. It usually fires right up but I had to turn and hold key briefly to get it going.

Today it won't start at all. I just get a rapid clicking sound when I turn key.

Interior lights go on fine, etc so I'm doubting a dead battery. One thing I did notice yesterday was every time I started car the ultra gauge would be reset and it would do the scan. That never happened before.

I checked UG codes and I have a p0560 pending.

So I searched here and I'm guessing I need a new check point sensor but before I go ordering one I was hoping for some advice on what else I might check first.

Thanks

Check battery voltage even though a tiny interior light is on. A starter motor takes a lot more power to spin.

Suspect battery or charging system to start with.

Get it jump started and get to a parts store where they will check battery/alternator.

Okay. I didn't write it down but I think it said 14.4 on ultra gauge yesterday.

I put in a grom audio receiver about 3 weeks ago, maybe that drains it? Seems weird. Getting a jump around my house will be tough, everyone drives new fancy wheels and I doubt they even know what jumper cables are

My battery is old and nasty, gonna replace. Anything special for a Land Rover? Normally I just take off neg first and put on pos first.

I've been told to open the driver window, put the key in position two, depress the alarm button that the hood contacts, then disconnect negative, then positive.

I've never done any of that and haven't had a problem.

Make sure you have the radio/sat nav code available if you disconnect.

I don't, I looked through all my books and couldn't find it.

But truck was pissing me off so I just changed battery anyway. Started right up and radio still works fine. Not sure why but I'll take a little good luck for once.

It'll probably die again tomorrow from something else. POS but I love it irrationally

My truck had a dead battery for five years, give or take a couple of months. No s***. Started right up when I put a new one in. I think it is luck of the draw.

You only have to be mad or a masochist to own any Disco, it does help
