Question won't start and stuck on what to try next..

I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery with 85k miles that will currently not start. It died on the hwy(may have ran out of gas) and hasn't started since. There was no sound from the fuel pump at all. Before this it has always run perfectly.
I figured it was either the fuel pump was burned out or the crankshaft pos sensor. So far I have replaced CPS and bought a used fuel pump off ebay. Since the CPS replacement I can now hear the pump priming but still no start. Seems to be closer to starting and almost catches(you can smell exhaust) but not quite.
Next step is replacing the fuel pump but I'm guessing that's not going to help. Any ideas of what to check?

Pull off a plug wire and attach to a spare plug that you will lay on exhaust manifold. Try to crank, and see if sparks. No sparks usually CPS. If you replaced the CPS and slightly changed the spacer, it still won't crank. The tip inside the engine ends up like 2mm from flywheel teeth. Too far away, and it won't pick up. My understanding is that it goes bolt-spacer-sensor-engine block. While you may not be able to get a gauge on it, the schrader valve for the fuel system test is back of intake manifold, driver side, under the top section. If can't get a gauge on it perhaps depress with something to see that you have some fuel squirt out. Pump will only run 30 seconds or so if engine does not run.

Maybe a fuel cut of switch.

Nevermind, you already replaced the CPS.

Well, that would be the inertia switch on the firewall, push top to reset. It kills the fuel pump relay (so you would not hear pump run, and it also kills the main relay, which does a niumber of things like powering up sensors). The cranking relay is controlled by the BCU, so cranking indicates you are not immobilized. Pix attached of inertia switch (On a D2 in a crash it will kill fuel, and unlock all doors so people can get you out - it is real handy when you need it).

Please double check CPS - we have had several posts of guys replacing theirs, can start, and it turns out to be the spacer.

So tonight I pulled off a plug wire and and attached a new spark plug. Had my wife crank it and there was definitely spark. I'm guessing that means the CPS is good.
I'd like to check if there is fuel pressure. I have a general idea of where the schrader valve is but I don't see it. Does anyone have a picture or a diagram, I can't find it in the Rave manual.

see attached. Item 9, and issue is can you get to it with anything (flex hose, tool, bent probe, etc.) without having to pull off item 1. Item 23 is a metal gasket and re-usable.

Thanks SB. I got my hand on the valve and was able to get gas to come out. I don't have a pressure gauge but if gas comes out doesn't that mean I have decent pressure? What should I check next? Still same issue, cranks but no start.
