Default Wrong Trans filter heads up

ATP 80 Transmission filter from Rock Auto is incorrect for 2001 D2 V8.

Pick-up is completely different.
So someone else doesn’t order the same part.

Side dimple: check, bolt hole: check, shape: check... That little guy there, don't worry about that little guy.

Yeah, you could physically install it but it wouldn’t be able to pick up the fluid.

Anyway, this is a heads up to not order this part. Rock Auto didn’t seem to acknowledge that they’re selling the wrong part as they only gave me a partial refund. It’s not an amount of money that’s worth worrying about but it was a bit of a pain as I didn’t know it was wrong until I had my Trans pan off. The locally obtained part was 4x the price of the Rock Auto part. I’ll certainly continue buying from RA.

The HP22/HP24 is used in a lot of different applications so I can certainly see parts being mixed up for their specific application. I usually just get the filter from Auto Zone or O'Reilly's and verify it before leaving.

Rock Auto price was CAD$12 vs $50 from Napa. It’s still worth taking the small gamble by ordering from RA.

To be fair the picture RA has directly from ATP does show exactly what you got. They even note Exc. 1" Pick Up Tube. Granted if you don't know there is a difference...

This is a manufacturer issue not exactly a RockAuto issue.

That’s true but I don’t know until mines apart. The one Napa listed was correct and they didn’t list another option for the D2.
