Default RE: Is yours a good year or a bad year?

At 12,000 miles mine had a valve job due to the valve seats being
to tight covered by LR.
After that it was little things at 70K fuel pump.
At 10 years the rubber window seals, hoses ect needed to be
replaced.
For the most part it has been just service to keep it going.

The only problem is my fuel gauge keeps going down as I drive,
the faster I go the faster the gauge goes down I have not found
the connection between the two.

Your gauge is not getting good, constant voltage. Try cutting the hot wire running to your fuel gauge and splice in a wire running directly to your battery. I think you will be very happy... (for a while).

What nobody ishappy with their 01's.? I like mine for the month or two I've owned it, now that I've gotten some issues straightened out.

1996 I thought was a terrible year. Seeing some good reviews gives me hope, though. If you do searches on the internet it seemswe have all had or have the same problem- Minor hesitation that has progressively gotten worse. Sometimes mine bogs down now. Noone has any ideas. So, here is mine 129k

10mpg
New tps
New Mass Airflow
New idle air control valve
Radio has nomemory due to wiring problem (yellow memory wire doesn't have sufficient juice, will run right to fuse box soon to see if that works.)
Radio has a ton of interference?? (Checked grounding, etc, all ok) Have to use a plug in thing that converts 4 channel into 2 channel wiring. Now Minor interference, but less than great sound.
Gas gauge has a mind of its own (will try the wire splice thing)
Power seat doesn't work on passenger side
Rear sunroof doesn't work.
Cruise is not functioning, I know its a vacuum problem, but can't find the issue.

Premium unleaded gas, good Spark plugs, new wires, runs rich, but no codes.

If you have had any of these issues and know fixes, feel free to pm.

I also have a 97. 147K on it now and got it with 115K. They dropped a new motor in it around 50K. I have replaced all of the steering linkage, all of the cooling system, save the radiator, cats, re-built driveshafts, pads and rotors with wheel bearings, carpet and headliner, and all of those little bs lights and accesories that break or go out, including the little tape thingy for PRND....

I love it and think it's a great year. Most of my repairs were due to abuse. She was rough when I got her, but I only have about $4K(not including labor)in the truck and have had her 2 years. Wouldn't trade it for anything (except another that was diesel)

I have a '97 with 130K on it. Had it for 5 years. Here's my list over the past 5 yrs:

- Fuel pump
- Brake Master Cylinder
- MAF
- TPS

Also has some aging issues, which everyone probably has... New vacuum tubes, window rubber, faded dash and console, dash lights going out like crazy, etc...

Please don't do this - I was only kidding.

Unless you want your gauge to read full all the time.
