Discovery 2 LS Conversion

I wouldn't mind diving into this setup and trying out either the LQ4 engine or just waiting and finding an L33 one. Either way, I'll be going above the recommended levels just to test out how the 4hp24 will do with the valvebody modification. My disco does have 150k on it so my transmission should be a good test for the power, since it has some age to it.
Right now piecing things together then I will order the kit.
Thanks AC

Ace, can you please address the current status of this kit being emissions compatible. I don't currently live in a city that requires emissions but will be eventually moving back to one that does so this could be a deal-breaker for others as well.
The harness i'm ordering from Speartech will have the post-cat O2 sensors as well as wiring for the purge canister. They have another option for Cali regulations that adds fuel tank pressure and EVAP vent.
Do you recommend to go with all 4 options and wire in the fuel tank pressure sensor as well as the EVAP sensor?
I believe the fuel tank pressure sensor is in-line with the fuel pump.
I'm not so certain about the EVAP sensor and how that would be compatible with their harness.

To continue on the theme of transmissions, I see much of the discussions are based around the 4HP24s that come in the 2003/2004 DIIs. What about the 4HP22 that is in previous years like mine (2002). Will that model handle a stock LM7 ok? If I wanted to upgrade to the 4HP24, is that an option?

I think that engine could easily be worth $2-3k. If you really are committed to the swap, I would post a video online with an oil pressure gauge connected, another one with the truck driving in 95 degree heat showing no overheating. Some people will be comfortable with modifying their trucks, but I doubt independent LR shops are ever going to advise a customer to do a swap versus just putting another engine in. Your engine would be perfect for someone that loves their truck but doesn't have the time or skills to do a swap.

Right now we are only going to support the ZF 4HP22/24. We can support other transmissions electrically (with some limitations), but we currently have no plans to make adapters for another transmission besides the 4HP22/24. Swapping the transmission makes this a significantly more difficult swap.

The 4HP22 is weaker than the 4HP24, and is probably better suited for the power of a 4.8. However, we have a 4HP22 sitting behind a rebuilt LS 5.3 here right now and it seems to be handling the power fine. The 4HP24 is a bolt-in upgrade and requires no further changes. It’s slightly longer and requires the transfer case to move back further on the mounts, but otherwise it is about as simple of a swap as you can get. We have a 2002 truck that has a 2003 4HP24 and an LM4 5.3L.
What Ashcroft is referring to is putting the 4HP24 bits inside the 4HP22 case to essentially make it a 4HP24. Around here, the 4HP24s can usually be found with low miles for a couple hundred dollars, so buying a used one is a probably a better solution over putting the 4HP24 parts in the 4HP22 case.
