I swapped a Buick V6 into the engine bay of a Series IIa Lightweight - the fit was tight. I just saw a Series IIa (non lightweight) this weekend where they had swapped a LS engine into - there seemed to be more than enough room in the engine bay - My bet is there is quite a bit more room than in the lightweight - looked like a nice package they put together.
