Hi Guys,

I have a 2002 freelander which is setting the following error codes: P0305 , P1472 and occasionaly P0174. After clearing the codes it will run for a few days before setting them again and then the check engine light will come on for a while, clear itself and come back etc..

I have changed plugs, checked the HT leads, swapped the injectors around (to see if it moves from the Cyl 5 missfire), checked the vacum connections and cleaned all the electrical connections I can reach.. oh and fitted a new Mass flow sensor...

After doing all this it's improved, takes longer to set the codes.. but they still come back.. Anyone have suggestions on what else could be causing this, would the O2 sensors cause it?

OK, thanks.. Took the VIM off today and checked it.. Motors and throttle seem ok.. found a broken vacuum pipe during the process, fixed that and put it all back together. Also noticed the female vacuum pipe quick connector on the front head seemed leaky(this is thevacuum pipe that connects the 2 heads and runs under the VIM on thegearbox side of the motor).. think I managed to seal this.. (not sure if this connector can be changed/repaired)..

Anyway ran the car after rebuild and so far check engine light had not come on and no codes set.. I'll run it for a few days and see how it goes..

 

Good find. Connector is able to be exchanged.
